Catching up...

So this week was a little busy for me...
Monday morning I went to a little goodbye breakfast for my friend Aley. She is a missionary & is now serving an 18 month mission in San Antonio Texas!
It was so good to see these gorgeous girls again!!
All of us have gone on very different paths since high school,
so it's always nice to get together and catch up.

After the breakfast, I went home and began to clean.
This semester my school schedule was crazy hard & very time consuming...
I spent wayy too many time doing homework, studying, staying up late, and doing basically everything except for cleaning my room. Soo eventually I realized that my room had slowly grown into an incredibly large mess.
I told myself I had to clean it as soon as summer began & before my grandma, Vicky, came to stay with us. I started cleaning Monday & didn't finish until Saturday night!
I sorted through old clothes, organized crafting materials, folded laundry, got rid of junk, vacuumed, washed the carpets, my bedding, etc.

All this cleaning drove me crazy at times, so I gladly took many breaks.
On Wednesday, my Stand Up Paddle-boarding break was awesome!!
My friend, Domi, & I rented 2 SUPs at Doheny beach for only $15!
The boards were SO heavy & we couldn't carry them from the rental shop to the beach... but this super nice man gladly put them on top of his car and drove them down for us!
Once we were in the water, it was great!
Standing up wasn't hard at all & the paddling wasn't tiering!
The water was so warm & the waves made the whole experience so much fun!
I really recommend trying this during summer! It's cheap, easy to plan & so much fun!
I love having the GoPro & being able to take it in the water!
Tanner & I take our cameras everywhere, from kayaking, to snowboarding, to the pool & beach, etc. They always take great pictures & the waterproof & shockproof casings are awesome!

My cleaning breaks were the best part of the week! It was just so crazy how much I had to do to get my room looking back to normal... but I'm finished now & couldn't be happier!!
I'm bummed I didn't take a picture of the before/after look of the room, but honestly, after a week of crazy cleaning, taking pictures was the last thing on my mind.

One thing that has been on my mind however, is UCSD.
AHH I am so excited to go in the fall! It's all I can talk about. I keep thinking of crafts for my new apartment, food that I'll make, how I'll organize my school supplies...
I'm so excited that on Thursday I even went to the store & found some cute little things I'd love to have in my new home. It was a good break from all the cleaning & I honestly cannot wait to see what next year is like!

One of the last things on my To-Do list today before I picked up Vicky, was to give Lily a bath.
& boy was Lily excited...

You can practically feel the joy through these pictures, right? Haha poor Lil.

Once the bath was done, I grabbed myself a super healthy breakfast & got on the road!
I drove down to my aunt's house in Carlsbad, to meet up with her family, my grandma & my other aunt. Since my grandma is quite possibly the best grandma out there, I can't tell you how happy I was to see her! We had lunch, went to a baseball game & at the end of the day, Vicky & I headed home.

Some close family friends were waiting for us & we had a welcome dinner for Vicky. I got to spend time with this little cutie, who absolutely loved the balloons!

Perhaps my most favorite part of the day, besides seeing Vicky of course, was being surprised by this postcard when I went to check my mailbox for the 1st time in 2 weeks.
(like I said, I've been way too busy to do little things like that lately haha)

My best friend, Sam Lobo, sent it to me for my birthday all the way from Kona, where she's studying at the University of Nations to become a missionary.
It made my day to see this & it was totally unexpected since my birthday was 2 weeks ago haha!
I guess I should start getting the mail more often...

Overall this week was a long one, but a nice one all in all.
Even though the cleaning days were awful, the nights out at the end of each day made up for the awfulness (& the 7 terrifying spiders I found in my room).
This perfect summer bliss, the hot days & warm nights, kickbacks, jacuzzis, cuddling, & not having to do anything serious everyday is something I enjoy & can definitely get used to.
I can't wait to see what happens next week.

Issues

Hi friends!
Today was hectic.
As my first official day of summer, I'd hoped that nothing but amazing things would happen today. Buuut, I unfortunately set my hopes a little too high & I had so many issues throughout the day.
It all started this morning, when I found my adorable puppy scratching like crazy.

Unfortunately, she's very allergic to fleas, & grass, & pollen, & dust, & a whole lot of other crap. Yet again, my poor puppy had chewed & scratched herself raw all over her body & was in so much pain! Thankfully, I work at an animal hospital, so I took her to work with me hoping that the doctor could get her all healed up.
That's when issue #2 came up: my possible kidney infection. Ugh! I was miserable the entire day at work!! Never have I ever been so glad to see pain pills & antibiotics in my life! I'm hoping that by treating the symptoms early, I'll be able to fight it off & not end up half-dead for a week,
like the last time.
So back to Lily... On my lunch break I decided to give her a medicated bath to soothe her skin. It was all going well until freaking Tanner texted me "hi." That one word made me take my phone from its's dry & safe place in my purse, to the underwater dangers of the mop water by the bathtub. I don't even know how it happened. One minute it was in my pocket, the next it was sinking to the bottom of the dirty old mop water. Hence issue #3: my water damaged iPhone.
I finished her bath, rushed home & searched everywhere for rice... but of course with my luck, there was none. So there I was, in my kitchen, worried about my stupid phone, when all of the sudden I spotted the tiny bag of brown rice sitting on top of the coffee machine. This little bag was given to me 6 years ago, in the 8th grade, when I finished running the L.A. Marathon.
All these years my mom has refused to let any one of us throw it away; she always said it had a purpose. I always thought she was crazy, but boy was she right! This bag of rice saved my phone! It's been sitting in there all day now & everything except for the home button seems to be working just fine! YAY
The rest of the day was busy with appointments, what seemed to be endless amount of client phone calls, random beeping & slurs from Siri coming from the little bag of rice surrounding my phone.

In the end, I guess it all turned out alright.
& after a long day at work I got to spend time with my most favorite boy!

We ate at a yummy little place called Waba Grill, where we laughed about our day, forgot about the little "issues" & were just happy to be together.
Now that I think about it, maybe it wasn't all that hectic. After all, it was just the first day & things can only go up from here.
