Rambling...

I've come to realize that I'm not a very good blogger.
I haven't written since last Wednesday!! In the beginning I said that I wanted to write daily haha. I never thought it'd be so hard to actually keep up with. I'm going to try & be better, post little things here & there, instead of having to post a lot & catch up with the past week & a half...

Soo last Thursday Tanner & I saw "The Purge!"
I tried to find more people to go watch it, but everyone was being so lame! My friend Alexa was too afraid to go see it haha...

But T&I were super exited to go see it because the previews had built it up to be this amazing suspenseful movie about killing & crime & people coming after you...
We saw the movie with our friend Mark, who like me, thought it was a good movie, but Tanner didn't seem to like it as much. He said it was predictable & not as scary as he had expected it to be.
I thought The Purge was awesome! People coming after you is one of the things that scares the shit out of me, so I was freaking out the entire time. I love being scared & so I recommend this movie a lot!

The next day I worked all day & T went surfing, I think... I can't really remember what he did. Maybe one day he'll actually write in here & he'll tell you himself.
Friday night I discovered a great new game: Cards against Humanity. It's Apples to Apples, but for adults. I love it!!

T&I met up with some friends at a little kick back later that night.
On Saturday, I worked again, which means Tanner was probably surfing... After that, we went to a BBQ at Amy's in Huntington with some of our favorite people. While we were there, we started talking about 4th of July & how awesome last year was. Amy's neighborhood has a block party every year & last year was the 1st time I went & I had the best time! The neighbors had SO many fireworks, it was insane!! Somehow the topic came up again & Tanner decided we needed more fireworks this year. So I suggested taking a quick road trip to Vegas & he said yes! A couple of people pitched in & we planned to go for a quick, 1 day trip on Wednesday.

Sunday, T, Lily & I went to the dog park in Laguna. I wanted to stop by the lumber yard to pick up some scrap wood for a new craft I'm working on, but it was closed :(
We went to Bruegger's & Juice it Up for a quick lunch...
I wore my new shoes & matched with the pups!
Later that day, we went over to the Bell's house & the boys went surfing, while Natalie, Amy & I went to Ikea to look for a couple of things for my new apartment.
My high school colors were black & teal & white & a little grey, & after being surrounded by that for 4 years, I've become obsessed with all things teal!
Turns out Ikea is just as obsessed with teal as I am. Everywhere I looked I saw teal, mixed with grey, tan, greens, white.... So cute!!

We spent such a long time walking around & falling in love with cute little things.
Here's what I ended up getting: a set of white plates, 4 teal cups, silverware, a teal pillowcase & a strainer. It was nice&reasonably priced for a poor college student! I'm exited to do something cute to the plates & silverware. I'm sure I can find something crafty & simple to do on the best website in the world, aka Pinterest.

On Monday, I worked again & it was a great day! Not too busy, not too slow, with plenty of puppies & kitties to brighten up my day. I got home & my brother, Jeremy, surprised me with my favorite Yogurtland!
T came over & we went in the jacuzzi, went to bed & called it a day.

On Tuesday, I decided hill repeats sounded like a great idea..

That's me after my 1st hill, still smiling.. but by the 15 one I can assure you, I wasn't smiling all that much haha. I went to the gym after & worked on arms for a bit. Afterwards, I went to Tanner's to say hi & he trapped me under a table while he cleaned.
My butt & boobs were too big to slide out from under it & it was WAY too heavy to lift up.
After about 10 minutes of being tickled & tortured, I got super-human strength, pushed the table off & was finally free!! T is such a dork, but my best friend at the end of the day & even though we do silly things, I wouldn't have it any other way. He makes me happy & keeps me entertained.
He left to go to work & I took a nap with Lil at home. Later that night we hung out with some friends & did hookah at Mark's.

We were supposed to go to sleep early on Tuesday night because our plan was to leave for Nevada at 4 a.m. on Wednesday. Buuut, that didn't really happen... I stayed up watching episodes of my new obsession, House M.D. & T was too exited to go to sleep, so he laid in bed until it was time to go.
We picked Jayden up at 4 a.m. & he slept the whole way there...
The sky was so pretty that morning, this picture doesn't do it justice!
After 4 1/2 hours, we finally made it to Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza.
It took us about 2 hours to run around, pick the best deals & spend $450 on fireworks.
We needed multiple carts to carry all that we bought!

It ended up being really fun & we got some free stuff for spending so much money! Since fireworks are illegal in California, we had to hide them in duffle bags & under the seats in order to cross back across the Nevada-Cali border. We felt like smugglers haha I was so scared of getting caught.

After the firework shop, we drove to Jayden's aunt's house, which ended up being only about 20 minutes off the strip. She was so sweet & gave us lunch, let us spend all day in her pool & take a nap in her nice air-conditioned house. T& I really needed that nap, because we hadn't slept at all !!
After napping, we headed to the strip. The boys had never been so they were exited to see the hotels & shows. We had a yummy & much needed dinner at Chipotle.
T&Jayden loved the Viva Las Vegas Belagio show! It was so fun & the water mist felt so nice since it was 110 degrees out!!
We drove home at around 10 pm. We were SO tired! We had to take a sleeping break at around 1 & got woken up by some weird couple screaming at each other at the gas station parking lot in Apple Valley. I drove home from there & finally made it back at around 2:40 am!
We went home & crashed!
I woke up at 8 am the next day (Thursday) & got ready for work. During my lunch break, I went over to T's & we sorted/counted the fireworks we got.
Turns out we got waayy more than we originally thought we would. We're so ready for 4th of July!!
At work, I unfortunately had to shave Lily because of her allergies again :(
I feel so bad for my little pup because she's so allergic to everything, is constantly scratching & getting hot spots. Dr. Walter put her on Prednisone & it seems to be helping, but Lily is peeing & eating like a freaking horse!!
This is her half shaved... I'd post a picture of the final haircut but I'm too embarrassed haha. I am by no means  a groomer & it doesn't help that Lily is so wiggly.
After T&I got off work, I stayed home & slept, as I was exhausted from the road trip, but he & the boys hung out. I'm not exactly sure what they did, but maybe T will let us know one of these days when he actually gets on here!

On Friday, T& the guys went surfing & caught some great waves from what I was told. While they were there, I worked & when I got home from work my mom told me that Lily had been stung by a bee! I obviously freaked out. After all, I'm a crazy dog lady & Lily is like my baby! Buuut luckily, Lily ended up being alright, I took care of her that night & she didn't have too bad of a reaction to the sting.

Once Lily was taken care of, I met up with Tanner at our friend Tyler's birthday party.
The party was so much fun! Construction workers were working down the street that night & they turned the power off at like 10 p.m! Haha everyone freaked out at first, but in the end it made for a really awesome night.
We had to improvise & use our phones for lights when taking pictures.

Yesterday, I had work again & the day went by pretty fast! One of our clients brought us over a new birdie, who Pat, the best office manager ever, named Stevie. So now we have Kevin & Stevie! Which is really funny since the doctors' husband's names are Kevin & Steve.
The birdies were really loud all day but everyone loved them during vax clinic, even Dr. Tuz!
After work, T&I picked up Avalon & we went over to Tyler's house again.

The power was on this time & it was a fun, mellow night...
Well, mellow until I found these pictures on my phone!!
At some point during the night, I thought it'd be a good idea to take cute pictures with the dog, Whiskey, but I guess she didn't really like the pictures so much.

When I looked back at my phone later that night I almost died!
Lol Whiskey looks so pissed & of course I had no idea at the time.

So finally, today, Sunday sunday hasn't been all that exiting.
It's father's day, but we don't really celebrate in my house.
Lily & I have been hanging out, listening to my favorite John Mayer Pandora playlist, painting all day & we'll see if anything exiting happens tonight.

I hope everyone has a great day today, & most importantly, I really hope everyone truly appreciates their dads today. Make sure they know how much you love them.

Lazy Days

Hi friends! On Tuesday, Tanner & I met up with some friends at Strands.
It was such a nice day! Warm weather, warm water,  yummy snacks & good friends.
The boys decided to dig a really big hole to bury our friend Reza...
For some reason, Reza is always up for getting himself into these sort of things.

After swimming, surfing, body boarding, & playing with the frisbee & football, we all got a little hungry....
The boys were so happy to find a cooler with some food! Here's Tanner,
 My most favorite friend, Jayden,
 & Blake!
We didn't know who's pizza it was, but we ate it. After all, shouldn't friends steal other friends' food? I think so, but our friend Brandon wasn't too happy to find out his pizza was missing. Whoops!

Yesterday, Tanner & I went to RoadRunner in Laguna Hills to get one of my favorite things in the world: running shoes. I ran, got fitted for the proper shoes & walked out with these babies!!

Tanner was dying of hunger so we got some yummy Rubio's.
Here's my Chipotle Ranch Chicken Salad & T's Chicken Quesadilla.

At Rubio's we saw this strange little old man who was wearing the tinniest shorts I've ever seen!

After lunch, Tanner & I headed over to T Street to meet Jeff.  The boys went surfing & I got to watch them catch some pretty crazy waves.
It was pretty windy, the water was choppy, but it was warm out & so nice to sit on the beach.
After the beach, we headed home & got ready to go to our friend Emily&Cody's new apartment in Laguna.
These past 2 days were nice summer days. It's been nice to not have to go to work, I've gotten a lot of paperwork done for UCSD & even started some new crafts that I'll be posting up here soon!

Apple Pie French Toast

Hi friends! Today was Tanner & I's 10 month anniversary! Yay!
It's so weird to say it, but we've made it so far. Who knew that last summer's little fling would lead to this? I'm so very lucky to be able to spend each day with my best friend; he is such a good guy & I couldn't be happier right now.

Tanner&I love cooking, & for the longest time, Tanner has been wanting to make these Apple Pie Sandwiches, so today we decided to give it a try!

 Ingredients:
- 2 cups of diced peeled apples
- 1 cup of water
-1/2 cup of sugar
- 5 teaspoons of cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons of lemon juice
- 10 slices of sandwich bread
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- vanilla ice cream (optional)

Once we had our ingredients, the cooking process wasn't too bad.
The first step is to cook the apples & water in a saucepan for 10 minutes, on low to medium heat.

While the apples are cooking, mix the 1/2 cup of sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg & cinnamon.

Once everything is mixed, stir into the saucepan with the apples. Bring the saucepan mixture to a boil & cook for 2 minutes and stir until it thickens.
After that, remove the saucepan from the heat & stir in the lemon juice.

Mix the milk, eggs, vanilla & remaining sugar into a small bowl.
Dip the pieces of bread in the egg mixture & place 1/3 cup of the apple filling in between 2 slices of bread.

Finally, cook the sandwiches on a lightly greased pan until golden brown.

We ended up making 5 French Toast sandwiches total, but the amount can vary depending on how much of the apple mixture you make.

The Apple Pie Sandwiches tasted so good! They are very sweet, however, so I wouldn't recommend putting powdered sugar or syrup on them. But pairing them with a bit of vanilla ice cream was good.

The whole process only took about 30 minutes.
I think these would make a really yummy breakfast rather than desert.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment; I'd be more than happy to help you out.
